Tonight I get to be at Lost Canyon with my sweet wife and beautiful daughters. An hour ago the Young Life Club Room was filled with teen moms and their adult Mentors and leaders.
A dozen nurseries have been created all over camp with 75 child care volunteers and 140 babies. You could have heard a pin drop in the Club Room as these young mothers heard the amazing news of a God who completely knows them, deeply loves them and who longs for a deep and intimate relationship with them.
At the end of the club time the girls were released into the camp and invited to spend 15 minutes alone and quiet.
The scene was dark, quiet, beautiful and holy.
The girls were quiet, the leaders were quiet and somehow even the babies were quiet.
Sometimes we have to be quiet and alone to hear the whispers of God.
A whisper can change your life when it comes from the source of life. The silence was ended by the voices of the Work Crew volunteers. They had gathered in the dark at the top of the canyon and together they began to sing a song of praise and hope. True and powerful words about the God who does not give up on us, about the love that does not fail. It was a praise and a prayer sung over these precious young lives and their babies.
Thankful for all the people who have dreamed, worked, prayed, given and served to create this place and this space.
